S10:E9 - “Mutton Spawn, Bahamas” (2018)
Scott and Steve are determined to go fishing despite the heavy winds in the Bahamas. Using some wind barriers given by the local fishermen, the men head out into shallow waters to hopefully catch some grouper. Scott is eager to test out a new lure that a local gave to him earlier that morning. This lure has a big lip, giant travel hooks, and designed to drop down to 35 feet, making a perfect lure to grab some grouper. Steve remarks how shallow water fishing differs from deep sea fishing, in that the shallow water fish are more energetic and alert, whereas the deeper water fish can get confused more easily, making them more catchable.
After a few tries, Scott gets a tug from his fishing pole, hoping it’s a grouper. While trying to reel in his fish, the line gets stuck in the rocks making it difficult for Scott to navigate out of. About an hour later, Scott is able to bring the fish in, and instead of the fish being a grouper, it is a mutton snapper. Scott and Steve leave their fishing trip content with catching a snapper each at the end of the day.
As always, we had Jason Stemple with us to document this trip in ultra high quality still photos. Here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!
